Dean Gorenc BA, CHRP, AMP | CEO
Dean has over 10 years of senior management experience and holds a CHRP and AMP designation. The last two positions Dean held were in the private lending industry (CareVest Capital) as National Director of Sales for their sister company Canadian Horizons and in the land banking industry with Walton International. Strengths include fundraising, product development, dealing with investors and equity capital providers at an executive and board level. Dean has raised over $115 million in a wholesale and retail capacity during this time. Dean is also Vice President, Business Development Quadrexx Asset Management an Exempt Market Dealer in Canada.
Dean is a graduate from the University of Calgary and prior to embarking on his career in real estate, he worked as an organizational, training and development specialist. He has specialized in start up companies, which have included Canadian Horizons, Westjet Airlines, ZIP Air, and Destina.ca. Dean also assisted several Executive teams with change management initiatives; the companies have included Halliburton and Air Canada.
Dean is also a Mortgage Broker operating his mortgage brokerage as UrbanStar Mortgages.
Guy M. Priddle MBA, RPA | President & CFO
Guy Priddle has been involved in the commercial real estate industry since 1986. His extensive experience includes strategic planning, capital planning, asset management, acquisitions/dispositions, property management, leasing, financial modeling and analysis, tenant services construction management, contract management, building operations management and negotiations.
Guy's experience includes work with owners ranging from the smaller, personal property investor, to large insurance and pension companies. He has worked with all property types and classes, from bare land and small retail or residential, large and small industrial, to major downtown class AA office buildings.
Most recently Guy has acted as Regional Director, Western Canada with BLJC (Brookfield LePage Johnson Controls). For the eight years previous to that role, he was General Manager, Real Estate Management Services with Oxford Properties.
Currently President of BOMA Calgary, Guy is also a Broker with the Alberta Real Estate Association, and a member of the University of Calgary/Haskayne School of Business Alumni Association.
Guy is also a Real Estate Broker operating his real estate brokerage as UrbanStar Real Estate.
Mike Star | Vice-President, Business Development
Mike Star is the president and founder of the Monthly Marketer Group, a web based application that specializes in data base management and electronic communication solutions for Real Estate professionals using streaming IDX feeds and global satellite positioning.
Mike has been a licensed member of the Alberta Real Estate industry for the past seven years, in which time Mike has worked with some of Calgary's largest Real Estate brokerages including C.I.R. Realty, Re/Max House of Real Estate, Re/Max City View, and Discover Real Estate earning some of the industry’s top recognitions including the Calgary Real Estate Board's prestigious MLS Million Dollar Club award.
During Mike's career in Real Estate, his focus has primarily been in the acquisition and disposition of large parcels of agricultural land, country residential land sales, and new home and condo development sales. Mike has worked closely with custom home builder's and condominium development companies such as Rembrandt Master Homes, Coco Homes - Timber Creek, and Century Group. Throughout his experience, Mike has gained several skills including an extensive knowledge in construction, design, architectural controls and styles, residential homes, country residential acreages, and has been certified by the Calgary Real Estate Board as a condominium specialist. Mike is well versed in urban planning concepts and has been instrumental in identifying and placing client's capital in several large development projects across Canada.
Mike now leads the acquisition team for UrbanStar Capital which is made up of development specialists in their respective fields.
Ashif MeraniBARRISTER & SOLICITOR | Corporate SECRETARY
Ashif is the founder of Merani Reimer LLP, a boutique law firm which specializes in the areas of securities, corporate, tax law and intellectual property law. Ashif practices primarily corporate and securities law providing counsel to public and private issuers on mergers and acquisition transactions, debt, equity and flow-through financings, as well as asset and share purchase and sale transactions. Ashif has also provided counsel to TSX Venture listed capital pool companies, including completing initial public offerings and Qualifying Transactions. Ashif has provided counsel to clients in a diverse range of sectors, including industrial, manufacturing, technology, mining, land-development, retail pharmacies and professional services businesses.
Ashif was called to the Alberta Bar in 1998. Ashif received his LLB in 1997 and his B.A. in Political Science with a minor in History in 1994, both from the University of Calgary. In 1987, Ashif completed a Diploma in Cinema, Television, Stage and Radio Arts from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
Ashif enjoys the many benefits of yoga and other activities with his family, including hiking in the mountains and traveling.
